In brief

Certified Tester courses

Independent of the ISTQB® Certified Tester scheme, fundamentals of quality assurance are significant key elements of Computer Sciences studies and training. As far as the constructive aspects of quality assurance are concerned, there is sufficient coverage in the respective curricula. Unfortunately, this is not the case for static and dynamic test techniques, i.e. for the analytical aspects of quality assurance. All too often, these are merely outlined briefly in one or two lectures of a seminar, e.g. on “Software Engineering”, which does not give the students the opportunity to acquire the necessary skills and competencies for decision-making. This, however, is a crucial aspect in the practical work of computer scientists – independent of the precise field of application!

The university members of the GTB e.V. provide a set of slides that is intended for use in teaching at training institutions and teaching establishments and that covers at least the current content of the ISTQB® Certified Tester Foundation Level syllabus. Apart from various other aspects of testing, these slides provide in-depth coverage of the fundamentals of static and dynamic test techniques, test management as well as psychological aspects of testing.

The set of slides is made available on request to non-commercial training institutions wanting to offer courses free of charge. The course participants can subsequently sit the exam for »Certified Tester – Foundation Level«.

This offer by the GTB ensures that current knowledge demanded by industry is imparted to students and trainees: The growing number of job offers that explicitly specify an ISTQB® Certified Tester as a requirement demonstrates that a high penetration of the market has already been achieved. In addition, almost 600 students in Germany have successfully passed the Certified Tester exam in recent years.
