Certified Tester scheme

Professional verification and testing of software is a task, which gains more and more in importance and therefore requires fundamental training.

The ISTQB® Certified Tester program is a standardized training and qualification scheme for software testers that is recognized worldwide. The ISTQB® Certified Tester scheme consists of the training levels Foundation, Advanced and Expert (CORE) supplemented by modules for working in agile teams (AGILE) and other specialist modules (SPECIALIST), each at a Foundation or Advanced level.

The associated syllabi and exam questions for Germany are developed and rolled out by the German Testing Board (GTB). The exams are offered and provided by official examination bodies appointed by the GTB.

The ISTQB® Certified Tester training scheme is the world’s most successful scheme for certifying software testers. 30,000 participants in the GTB software tester training courses, 62,000 (as of 06/2018) successfully certified ISTQB® Certified Testers and 78,000 (as of 06/2018) completed software tester examinations in Germany are good reasons to be proud. Worldwide there are more than 785,000 (as of 12/2017).

The exam candidates are software professionals from all branches of industry  (automotive, financial services, medical technology, telecommunication, public administration etc.).

Lectures based on the ISTQB® Certified Tester syllabi are also offered at universities and colleges (see also Certified Tester at Universities and Colleges), where students can subsequently sit the exam for the Certified Tester Foundation Level.
