Petra Bukowski

Petra Bukowski When Petra Bukowski joined the consultancy company SQS Software Quality Systems AG in 1991, software testing was a largely new subject for her. Today, she knows that software quality assurance will continue to be a good source for new and state-of-the-art ideas. Her engagements as consultant, organizer of international congresses and tester training events as well as an active member of the GTB are proof of her commitment.

After studying Applied Mathematics at the Koblenz University, Petra Bukowski took on responsibility as a project leader at SQS, where she developed a wide range of experience in quality assurance and quality management, particularly within large telecommunication and logistics projects, in which she held responsibility for testing.

With her practical experience, Petra Bukowski further developed her quality philosophy beyond the scope of her SQS project activities, especially since she could see every day in her work, where potential for improvement lay: for example in the training of testers. As a result, she was involved from day one when the International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB®) and later the GTB were established as independent organizations, in order to standardize the training of testers and accredit the corresponding training courses.

Petra Bukowski’s commitment to training programs and congresses has been more than a mere sideline for some considerable time. Since 1998, she has been responsible for the department „Training & Events“ at SQS. In addition to the organization of training courses and her commitment to the GTB, this principally involves the planning of content and the execution of the Software & Systems Quality Conferences, which in the meantime attract some 1,500 participants every year.
